Basic and Advanced Phacoemulsification

The Basic and Advanced Phacoemulsification Course at the Kabgayi Learning and Simulation Centre (KLASc) provides comprehensive, hands-on training in modern cataract surgery from foundational skills for beginners to advanced techniques for managing complex cases. The course is designed for young ophthalmologists starting their phaco journey as well as experienced surgeons looking to refine or upgrade their surgical approach.

This simulation-centered program guides trainees through the essential steps of phacoemulsification, including incision creationm capsulorhexis, hydrodissectionm nucleus management, cortical cleanup and intraocular lens implantation.

For advanced learners, the course expands into complex cataract scenarios, challenging nucleim complication management and optimization of machine settings.
